About Plaquelands Media

The goal of Plaguelands Media is to showcase the beauty that can be found in even the most macabre of images. The highly stylized artwork of Ian Van Gemert draws inspiration from myths, legends, and fairytales to create images that, while beautiful, whisper of the lingering shadows that dance slowly on the outskirts of our imagination. Each piece sets out to capture a fear unique to the viewer, while at the same time showing them a world that contains the safe and dreamlike qualities of childhood. The accompanying text, written by Luke Carman, edited by Hugh Newton, acts as a catalyst to the viewer, by offering them a chance to delve a little deeper into the minds of these two talented creators. Plaguelands Media is not just about art, but about exploring the darkness inside of everyone. In the past six years we have self published six books and presented four art shows at Gallery One88 in Katoomba, NSW, as well as successfully launching our first KickStarter comic last year 'Loki the Conqueror'
